Dr. Amol Soin discusses organizing local societies and their importance to advocacy. Dr. Soin points out that Medicare has the Carrier Advisory Committee that allows a society to be compensated and reimbursed easily and that a representative can only be appointed by a state society. ASIPP is the only state society available that gives a voice to pain physicians, locally and nationally. Dr. Soin discusses the website and the need for new leadership and teamwork for advocacy within societies.
