Dr. Veronica Carullo is a board-certified pediatric anesthesiologist as well as pediatric pain & palliative care specialist and currently serves as the Director of Pediatric Pain Management at the Children’s Hospital of Mississippi / University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Dr. Carullo practiced pediatric anesthesiology, pediatric pain and pediatric palliative medicine in New York from 2010-2020. In 2020, she joined the faculty at the University of Mississippi Medical Center as a pediatric anesthesiologist and Director of Pediatric Pain Management to lead the expansion of pediatric acute and chronic pain management services at the Children’s Hospital of Mississippi.
Her research interests include pediatric sickle cell pain management and outcomes in children suffering from chronic pain. She is currently a co-Investigator for the EMBRACE (Education and Mentoring to Bring Access to Care for Sickle Cell Disease) NIH HRSA grant that includes sickle cell centers from the southeastern US. The goal of the project is to improve the quality of care for children and adults with sickle cell disease by forming an alliance of multiple centers working together on QI projects, forming a national patient registry, and educating primary care providers and specialists alike through the use of ECHOs.
