Multi-Center Prospective Cohort of Intractable Chronic Low Back Pain
This presentation explores restorative neurostimulation as a breakthrough therapy for patients with chronic mechanical low back pain and multifidus dysfunction. Unlike palliative neuromodulation techniques, this therapy targets the L2 medial branch nerves to restore neuromuscular control and spinal stability. The REACTIVAVE-B trial demonstrated significant pain reduction, functional improvement, and opioid reduction in patients over five years. Remarkably, some were explanted due to complete symptom resolution. Real-world outcomes mirrored clinical trials, supporting both efficacy and durability. This disease-modifying therapy offers a novel, long-term solution for a population underserved by current treatment options.
