Long Term Outcomes
This presentation delves into the long-term outcomes, durability, and efficacy of dorsal root ganglion (DRG) stimulation as a treatment for chronic pain, particularly CRPS. Unlike traditional spinal cord stimulation (SCS), DRG targets specific ganglia for precise, low-energy, and long-lasting pain relief, even in nociceptive conditions. The talk covers improvements in lead migration and fracture rates through anchoring techniques and explores DRG’s minimal habituation compared to SCS. It highlights the role of low-frequency stimulation in activating endogenous opioid pathways without developing tolerance, making DRG a robust option with low explant rates and high patient satisfaction.
