Biography

Livio Luongo is Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Campania “L. Vanvitelli, Naples, Italy. Dr. Luongo received a B.Sc. in Pharmacy at the University of Naples “Fed- erico II”, Italy and earned a PhD in Pharmacology in 2008 with the thesis focuses on the role of microglia cells in neuropathic pain, particularly highlighting the role of CB2 cannabinoid receptors on those cells.

The research of Dr. Luongo has been focused on the chronic neuroinflammatory diseases such as neuropathic pain and trauma, with particular pharmacological manipulation of the purinergic and endocannabinoid systems. Dr. Luongo is author of more than 100 peer reviewed papers published in top journals in his field including Pain, Brain, PNAS, Cerebral

Cortex, Neuropsychopharmacology and FASEB-J. Dr. Luongo owns several research projects funded as Principal Investigator (PI) and co-PI. He has been invited speaker or speaker at many international conferences including IASP, EFIC, ACNP, Gordon conference and ICRS.
