Multi-Center Prospective Cohort of Intractable Chronic Low Back Pain Treated with Restorative Neurostimulation
This presentation reviews the REACTIV8-B trial, a five-year study on restorative neurostimulation targeting L2 medial branch nerves to restore multifidus muscle function for chronic low back pain. Conducted across 26 global centers, the trial included patients with severe, refractory pain who failed conventional therapies. Results: pain scores improved from 7.3 to 2.4, Oswestry Disability Index dropped from 39 to 16, and health-related quality of life normalized. 46% eliminated opioids, and no lead migrationsoccurred. Unique findings include patients explanted due to cure and long-term durability without tolerance. Real-world outcomes mirror trial results, reinforcing this as a disease-modifying therapy for functional spine stability.
