Dr. Sean (Chia-Shiang) Lin presents the pros and cons of using ultrasound versus fluoroscopy for image-guided interventional pain management. He compares and contrasts three image-guided modalities: computer scan tomography, fluoroscopy, and ultrasound. He also describes the target foci for interventional procedures. Dr. Lin discusses the manner in which these modalities facilitate pain management by ensuring proper placement and administration of contrast agents and/or medication. Additionally, Dr. Lin describes clinical outcomes of image-guided interventional approaches in published studies. More clinical research is needed to further elucidate the pros and cons of each image guidance method for spinal pain intervention.
