Dr. Michael Leong presents the percutaneous lumbar decompression procedure for spinal stenosis. Dr. Leong describes the development, progression, physical examination, and general treatment paradigm for lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS). He also discusses current treatment options for LSS, including minimally invasive lumbar decompression (MILD). This is followed by a description of the MiDAS Encore long-term study, which demonstrates positive outcomes for numerous patients who undergo lumbar decompression. Dr. Leong also provides a comparison of epidural steroids, percutaneous decompressive laminotomy, and interspinous spacers with MILD. He places emphasis on the efficiency, safety, same-day facilitation, and efficacy at L5/S1 when patients undergo MILD for stenosis treatment.
