Dr. Peter Staats discusses new paradigms in spinal cord stimulation, including real-time evoked compound action potential (ECAP)-controlled closed-loop stimulation. He discusses historical themes and gate control theory. There are many approaches in spinal cord stimulation (low stimulation, ultra-low stimulation, etc.) but some of these paradigms may need optimized. Consistency is key. Also, patients who undergo this therapy may be able to shift away from opioids.

Dr. Tim Deer introduces closed-loop spinal cord stimulation to a group of ASIPP Physicians in Las Vegas. He explains the advantages of closed-loop technology vs traditional SCS. Dr. Deer explains how the closed-loop device maintains an amplitude within the therapeutic window far more than open-loop devices. Dr. Deer refers to the “Evoke Study” as a guidepost for the new technology, describing the setup and execution of the double blind study.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1488298613118{margin-top: -20px !important;}”]
