Dr. Hemmo Bosscher gives a lecture on the origination of low back pain, given that 90% is non-specific or idiopathic. He details his research using epiduroscopy as a diagnostic tool, and discovered that the peridural membrane is the cause of this “idiopathic” low back pain. He then explains the membrane’s histology, function, and distribution within the spine. He concludes with an explanation of how discogenic pain is directly correlated with this peridural membrane.

Dr. Hemmo Bosscher discusses his early experiences in treating low back pain with epiduroscopy, as well as better understanding the true mechanism of the pathology. Through extensive research with epiduroscopy, he and his colleague discovered that the true cause of non-specific LBP was inflammation of the perineural membrane near the inferior aspect of the L4-L5 neural foramen.
