Biography

Dr. Kapural earned a medical degree and a doctorate of philosophy at the University of Zagreb, School of Medicine in the Republic of Croatia. Dr. Kapural completed residency at the Cleveland Clinic’s Division of Anesthesiology and Critical Care in Cleveland, OH and Fellowship in Pain Management at the Cleveland Clinic. He stayed at Cleveland Clinic’s Pain Management Department for 10 years in extremely busy interventional pain medicine practice serving also as Director of Clinical Research and Professor of Anesthesiology at CCLMC of the Case Western University with joint appointment in Outcome Research Department. He was also Professor of Anesthesiology, Wake Forest University, School of Medicine from 2010-2020. Dr. Kapural is an active member and holds prominent committee positions in number of professional organizations including the American Academy of Pain Medicine, American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, International Spine Intervention Society, North American Neuromodulation Society and World Institute of Pain. He was Director-At-Large and Board Member of American Academy of Pain Medicine, North American Neuromodulation Society and International Neuromodulation Society In addition, he is an invited speaker to many national and international meetings and member of the editorial board of multiple clinical pain journals.
Dr. Kapural’s experience is broad and encompasses teaching and clinical education, extensive research, and innovations in the area of pain treatments which brought him two Innovator Awards. His noteworthy research findings have been published in more than 200 journal articles, more than 259 abstracts, and 40 book chapters. Currently, he is the editor of books on discogenic and visceral abdominal chronic pain. He is listed by his peers in the “Best Doctors in America”.
