John V. Prunskis, M.D. FIPP, is one of Illinois’ most esteemed interventional pain specialists. Dr. Prunskis is a presidential appointee to the Department of Health and Human Services’ Best Practices Pain Task Force in Washington, D.C., to establish national standards for the treatment of pain where he currently serves when not seeing patients.
He earned his medical degree at Rush Medical College of Chicago and completed his anesthesiology residency and fellowship training at the University of Chicago. He is an examiner for the interventional pain certification examination and a clinical professor at Chicago Medical School.
A frequent lecturer, Dr. Prunskis is a past Secretary of the Illinois Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and is an active member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, American Pain Society, McHenry County Medical Society (past president), the International Spinal Injection Society and the Illinois State Medical Society (past delegate). He also been elected to his third term representing Lithuanian-Americans in Lithuanian Parliament.
