Bryan J. Marascalchi, MD is an academic pain medicine physician and anesthesiologist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center as well as an entrepreneur and researcher. He graduated from New York University School of Medicine as a medical doctor. At NYU, he also completed a research fellowship in bioinformatics and biodesign, with a specific focus on large database management and analysis, clinical trials, and healthcare software development. After an intern year at Weill Cornell Medicine affiliated hospital, Dr. Marascalchi matriculated into the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine’s residency in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. He was recruited after residency to stay at Johns Hopkins for a multidisciplinary chronic pain fellowship, and later to join the faculty as a full-time attending physician. While at Johns Hopkins, he also completed an NIH research fellowship and founded two venture-capital funded healthcare startups.
His career in Anesthesiology and pain management has been marked by serial successes in entrepreneurship, successful attainment of research funding, and disruptive thought that challenges the status quo. He is passionate about advancing current knowledge, translating data from bench to bedside, and improving the quality of life of patients and their families through innovation.
Dr. Marascalchi is well-published with over twenty manuscripts and abstracts in peer-reviewed academic journals. He is nationally recognized for an unusual ability for healthcare device prototyping, inventing and patenting, software development, and web and mobile development.
