Dr. Brian Bruel is an Interventional Pain Medicine Specialist and Physiatrist. Prior to joining Cy-Pain & Spine, he worked as a tenured Associate Professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he was the Director of Pain Medicine and Associate Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He was previously an Associate Professor in the Department of Pain Medicine, Division of Anesthesiology and Critical Care, at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at the New York Medical College. He was Chief Resident at Baylor College of Medicine in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, where he was awarded the Outstanding Resident Teacher of the Year and Resident Achievement Award. He completed a fellowship in 2007 at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Pain Medicine. Dr. Bruel is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Medicine and Obesity Medicine. He is a member of the North American Neuromodulation Society, Texas Pain Society where he serves as President and is one of the founders of the Cancer Pain Research Consortium and is a Past President. He has received numerous awards, including Baylor College of Medicine – Faculty Clinical Achievement Award, Best Doctors in America, Castle Connolly Top Doctor and Texas Monthly Rising Star in PM&R. He has clinical and research interest in Neuromodulation for pain and spasticity, cancer survivorship pain and minimally invasive spine intervention.
